Named after the Singapore neighborhood in which it sets, Gallop House follows the topography of its hillside plot to maximize both the views and privacy. The sizable home spreads its many bedrooms — enough for the owner’s family of five, plus parents, in-laws, and guests — across three levels, two located above ground. The majority of the day is spent on the middle level, where the main living, dining, and kitchen areas open directly onto a veranda. The veranda is sheltered beneath the top floor and also houses the pool, the structure of which is cut out at the end to form a carport. Timber slats on the upper level provide shade and recall the property’s linear treehouse that was built for a prior owner, and frame the rooftop terrace that provides views of the city.
